Three top destinations you should consider for Holidays in South Croatia!

I

f you were to ask me: I’m a beach lover, where should I go on holiday, the destination that first comes to my mind is Croatia. I start imagining those turquoise and quite beaches. On the contrary to Albania and Greece, where going to a beach bar means comfortable sunbeds, music and cocktails, in Croatia you can just lay a towel on a tree shadow and enjoy some beautiful, secluded beaches without too many people nearby. So, if you’re planning to go to South Croatia, here are my top 3 recommendations that are not crazy expensive:

My first choice: Korčula.
Korčula is the second most populous Adriatic Island. You may find various accommodation options like Hotels and Apartments. Most of the hotels in the island are Half Board (breakfast & dinner, without drinks), because many tourists prefer to consume breakfast and visit different beaches during their holidays, only to return for dinner and a rest in the evening.
What I love most about Korčula, is that it is a miniature version of Dubrovnik. It has the old town, with shops, bars and restaurants to offer enough entertainment for the evening, beautiful beaches and of course it is not as expensive as Dubrovnik, accommodation wise.
We have traveled from Albania, by car and to arrive at the island, you pass Dubrovnik until you reach Orebić. From Orebićit is a short ferry ride to Korčula and of course you can have excursions to nearby islands by ferry.
Accommodation wise, I would recommend checking Aminess Hotels & Resorts. It is a hotel chain with properties throughout Croatia and various in Korčula. From hotels to apartment complexes.
My second choice after beautiful Korčula is Mljet. Mlejt is a unique island, with the western part of it being a National Park. Mljet is the opposite of Korčula, it is a much quitter island and it truly allows you to connect with nature. Imagine, a beautiful island that has a lake and on that lake is located a small island which you get to explore and enjoy.
Mljet and Korčula are connected by Ferries which depart from Sobra Port and usually on the high season there are up to 5 trips a day. The line which offers this service is Jadrolinija so you can check their website for updated information. To embark on your discovery of Mljet you depart from Mainland in Prapatno, a village near Stone.
When staying in Mljet I was accommodated in Hotel Odisej. Click on the name of the hotel for more info and rates.
My third choice is of course Cavtat. Cavtat is a town in the Adriatic coast which is located around 20 minutes from Dubrovnik. Making it an ideal destination for accommodation and offering the option to enjoy Dubrovnik as well.
In Cavtat you can find from 5-star resorts to cheap apartments, if you book in advance of course.  Beautiful beaches, a promenade full of bars and restaurants and various boat tours. I can just close my eyes and imagine myself enjoying it.
If you plan on treating yourself to a luxurious holiday, I recommend checking out Hotel Croatia, a five-star hotel offering the best service in the area.
